Daniel was appointed President Operations Minerals Americas – BHP Billiton in March 2016 based in Santiago, Chile. Previously he held the role of President BHP Billiton Copper (March 2015).
He initially worked for the Company between 1996 and 1998 in BHP Copper in the United States and has held a number of roles in the Base Metals business since he rejoined BHP Billiton in 2002. Daniel was appointed Vice President Strategy and Development in Base Metals in 2007 based in Santiago (Chile), a position he held for five years before moving to Singapore in 2012 to take the role of President Minerals Exploration. After that, he moved to Perth (2014) as President Aluminium, Manganese & Nickel.
Daniel has a Civil Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Chile and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA).
